A shy math graduate, Gaspard, takes a holiday in Dinard, a small coastal town, before starting his first job. He hopes Lena, a girl who has won his interest, will join him in his new life. Upon his arrival, Gaspard strikes up a friendship with a servant girl named Margot. He is given much free time to spend with her, even to where he feels comfortable confiding his thoughts and feelings. Doubts begin to arise toward his love for Lena. Thus the quiet young lad finds he is having to do some tricky juggling in territory new to him.
