Animated Class Of Japan Lit: Botchan & Student

This program features two adaptations of classic stories by the Japanese writers Soseki Natsume and Kume Masao. In the first, an adaptation of Natsume's "Botchan", a new teacher arrives at a staid school and breathes life into it by challenging both his students and his colleagues. "Student Days" finds a young man named Kenkichi pouring every ounce of energy into preparing himself for the prestigious university he hopes to attend. As he gradually sacrifices all else for his studies, Kenkichi begins to wonder if the university is worth his Herculean effort.
