Mozart's opera has been refashioned by director Dorris Dorrie as a 'hippie' musical opera, looking more like "Hair' or "Jesus Christ Superstar" while retaining the music of Mozart. Noted conductor Daniel Barenboim handles the baton while the Berlin State Opera Orchestra does an excellent job with the music. Among the notable singers in this production are: Katharina Kammerloher, Dorothea Roschmann and Werner Gura.
