When a small plane crashes near the Mexican town of Zacatecas, local farmers are in for a surprise: the plane carries an illegal cargo, and when the pilot dies, it is up to them to dispose of the drugs. With his dying words the pilot explains that he was attempting to sell the drugs to raise money for his daughter's heart transplant, and the farmers, touched, decide to carry the operation through. They load the cargo into boxes made of cactus fruit called "tunas," and head for California. Will they succeed in their mission and save the girl's life, or will the lure of riches, not to mention the authorities, divert them from their goal?
