Clutch Cargo - The Complete Series (Vol. 1)

Featured in PULP FICTION's infamous gold-watch scene, the nearly-forgotten 1950s cartoon series CLUTCH CARGO was one of the most popular children's shows of its time and pioneered the use of SYNCRO-VOX technology (a bizarre form of animation that involves superimposing real human lips over the mouths of cartoon drawings, SYNCRO-VOX produces the unsettling impression that the characters are actually speaking--used to great comic effect on THE CONAN O'BRIEN SHOW). Essentially composed of comic-strip stills (motion was produced by shaking the animated cells), the surreal series followed the globe-trotting adventures of the titular pilot hero (voiced by Richard Cotting), his child companion Spinner, and a dachshund named Paddlefoot (voiced by Margaret Kerry). Created by cartoonist Clark Haas, CLUTCH CARGO returns to charm (or possibly disturb) a whole new generation of children in this nostalgic collection that includes the first 26 episodes of the series' 52-episode run.
