The Escaflowne series follows the exploits of a young schoolgirl, Hitomi Konzaki, who is an ordinary enough high school student until a column of light transports Hitomi to a strange world called Gaea. Hitomi aligns herself with a young knight named Van, whom she saw in a vision prior to being transported, and they begin a perilous journey with Escaflowne, the legendary god of protection. In these episodes, Hitomi's precog ability allows her a vision of ancient Atlantis and its destruction. A dusty journal she finds takes her on a quest to find the real Atlantis while Van lays suspended between life and death.
