Outside Out is the story of a boy, a guitar, and his desire to be a true artist. One that is neither bound by convention nor the approval of his friends, family or a girl. Rick tries desperately to get into music school and avoid dad's plan of Military Academy. But his playing isn't very good. Mike Gordon is the bassist for the Vermont-based rock group Phish. This is his first full-length feature film, an experimental narrative/mock-infomercial that screams softly with bizarreness. With a mixture of abstract editing, phychedelic symbolic images, and priceless scenes with music teacher, Col. Bruce Hampton, Ret., Outside Out keeps viewers both intrigued and baffled.
