Rickshaw Boy

A modern classic, Rickshaw Boy was one of the first films from the modern People's Republic to break into American theatres. Based on the famous novel by Lao She, Rickshaw Boy tells of a hard-working peasant who tries to make his way in the city. He works hard, struggles to establish a business, and falls in love. This coming-of-age story has a tough Chinese twist-which reveals much about the collision of ancient rural and modern urban ways.
