The Andy Kaufman Show

As with any Andy Kaufman performance, you're never quite sure where reality ends and comedy begins in this much requested, hard-to-find show from the critically acclaimed PBS series "Soundstage." He is joined by, among others, a marionette of his alter ego, obnoxious dive-lounge comedian Tony Clifton. Is Andy putting us on when he and former girlfriend Elayne Boosler air their dirty laundry? Is Andy's enthusiasm for a tone-deaf singer feigned during a segment entitled "The Has-Been Corner"? When his guest Dr. Alex Shorr is unmasked as a fraud, is it a setup? This whole show may be a joke, spoof, or serious attempt at creating a late-night talk show. But who knows? That's what makes it fun. That's what makes it Andy Kaufman.
