Based on Rumiko Takahashi's (RANMA 1/2) popular weekly comic strip, URUSEI YATSURA was one of Japan's most popular television shows during its run from 1981 to 1986, which produced 195 episodes of the show. The series followed the misadventures of Lum, a beautiful bikini-clad alien girl with horns under her green hair, and her misguided love for the skirt-chasing buffoon Arturo. Drawing from science fiction, Japanese mythology, and high-school hijinks, URUSEI YATSURA consistently produced zany premises and riotous action that involved everything from fire-breathing babies, magical earmuffs, giant ghost cats, a test-cheating machine, alien invasions, and plenty of scenes involving underwear. In these episodes, Sakura, the school nurse and powerful Shinto priestess, becomes possessed by a wine-spirit that turns the usually straightlaced woman into a tipsy mess; a week of rain leads Lum to imagine married life with Arturo and their half-alien children; and a bar of super-soap causes people to become ridiculously slippery, resulting in some titillating slapstick.
