Based on Rumiko Takahashi's (RANMA 1/2) popular weekly comic strip, URUSEI YATSURA was one of Japan's most popular television shows during its run from 1981 to 1986, which produced 195 episodes of the show. The series followed the misadventures of Lum, a beautiful bikini-clad alien girl with horns under her green hair, and her misguided love for the skirt-chasing buffoon Arturo. Drawing from science fiction, Japanese mythology, and high-school hijinks, URUSEI YATSURA consistently produced zany premises and riotous action that involved everything from cute girls with enormous guns, magical earmuffs, giant ghost cats, a test-cheating machine, parallel universes, and plenty of scenes in bathhouses. This release contains the final episodes of the show after its phenomenally long and popular run. (Unlike U.S. television series, URUSEI YATSURA didn't have seasons, and the animators worked non-stop to produce the steady flow of episodes; it's rumored that exhaustion, more than anything, led to the end of the show.) One of the episodes is a highlight reel of all the greatest moments from the show. The final episode involves the characters receiving mysterious invitations that turn out to be from the Sun God Amaterasu, and the show ends in a fantastic party.
