Thailand continues its run of supremely creepy, atmospheric horror films with director Thorkranong Sirchua's sci-fi frightfest, UNHUMAN. When a sudden meteor shower rains down upon the lush Thai jungle, the astronomical phenomenon triggers a series of earthly events that includes the deaths of several local villagers. As clues begin pointing to an evil scientist (Suthita Ketanon) dabbling in the black-market human-organ trade with the help of a female witch-doctor, a group of archaeology students camping in the jungle decides to join forces with a police detective (Sira Pathrat) and a genetics expert (Cholada Mekratree) to investigate the murders--only to discover that the real killers may not be of this earth. UNHUMAN adroitly blends its supernatural elements with gory special effects for an effectively frightening sci-fi/horror hybrid in the style of ALIEN or PREDATOR.
