Based on Rumiko Takahashi's (RANMA 1/2) popular weekly comic strip, URUSEI YATSURA was one of Japan's most popular television shows during its run from 1981-1986 which produced 195 episodes of the show. It follows the adventures of Ataru, a young man who is charged with saving the Earth by competing with a beautiful alien named Lum in a game of tag. In episodes 9-12, Ataru is startled when Princess Kurama becomes convinced that he is her prince charming, and his surprise to fear when it becomes clear she intends to turn him into the perfect husband, even if it kills him. Later, the show parodies THE TALE OF GENJI as it goes back to Heian period Japan and features previous incarnations of all the series' characters.
