Henry Jaglom directed this charming look at the world of cinema and the magic of movies -- which was shot in both Venice, California and Venice, Italy. The director himself plays Dean, a filmmaker who's delighted and astonished when the programmers of the Venice Film Festival agree to screen his latest work. He arrives in Italy and is instantly drawn into the carnivalesque atmosphere of the event, as is the lovely French journalist pursuing him for an interview. Soon, both Dean and the writer find themselves wondering whether the adventures taking place on the screen could possibly be weirder than one ones occurring in real life.
