In an abandoned factory in upstate New York, a frightened boy, Judd Mulvaney (Thomas Guiry, Black Hawk Down), hands a rifle and ammunition to his older brother Patrick (Jacob Pitts, "Sex and the City"). What brings these two young men to this defining moment in their lives is answered in Judd's cathartic reflection of the past. It was only three years prior when the Mulvaney family still thrived on image and upheld their position in the upscale rural community of Mt. Ephraim with dignity. They believed with all their hearts that nothing could ever shatter their idyllic world.

Corinne (Blythe Danner, Ann Tyler's Saint Maybe) and Michael (Emmy and Golden Globe award-winner Beau Bridges, "P.T. Barnum") are the loving parents of the charmed Mulvaney clan: sons Mike (Mark Famiglietti, "Hang Time") and Judd, and their teenaged twins Patrick and Marianne (Golden Globe winner Tammy Blanchard, Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows). When the close-knit world of the Mulvaneys is shaken by an event that destroys Marianne's innocence, the young girl falls victim once again - this time to her family's feelings of shame, guilt and rage. Closed off in an insular world of denial and alienation, the Mulvaneys unwittingly precipitate a spiral into further violence and darkness. But the very tragedy that rends the fabric of their family ultimately becomes the catalyst for healing in an honestly emotional climax of hope, reunion and forgiveness.
