Yerma (Sanchez-Gijon) longs for a child but is unable to conceive. After an old, wise, woman (Papas) assures her that the reason she cannot become pregnant may be due more to her husband (Diego) than herself, Yerma regards her unfeeling spouse with growing hatred.
